ETTA M MARTIN

Etta M Martin, age 85, formerly of Marshfield died on Sunday, May 9, 2004 at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville where she had resided since Sept. 18, 2003.

Etta was born on Nov. 3, 1918 to Earl and Bessie (Rue) Truax in the town of Sherman, Clark County where she also attended schools. She was united in marriage to Wilford W. Martin on Nov. 5, 1935 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield. He died on Dec. 23, 1984.

After their marriage, they lived in Marshfield where she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, its Parish Council of Catholic Women, Christian Mothers Society, Gold Star Mother, life honorary member of the American Legion Post # 54 Auxiliary, life time member of the FFA of Granton, Hoe Downer Square Dancing Club, Senior Citizens and its chorale and play acting groups.

Surviving are her two daughters, Marion (Adolph) Kraus, of Marshfield, and Patricia (Wallace) Garbisch, of Granton; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. Also surviving is one brother Darrell Truax, of Kenosha and a sister Contance Bizjak of Loyal, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Etta in death are her parents, husband Wilford, two sons, PFC Vernal G Martin who was killed in Vietnam Aug. 8, 1966 and James J Martin, Feb. 4, 1968, five brothers and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday May 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony J Wolf. Organist, Doug Seubert along with John F Binder and James W. Eckes as vocalists will offer the music. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken and Ron Kraus, Mark Garbisch, Marvin Bauer, Tim and Matthew Steinbach.

Visitations will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home and again on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. There will be a Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service combined with the Parish at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. There will be an Eagles Auxiliary memorial service at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
