Lyons, J. Albert (11 OCT 1851 - 21 Feb 1929)

J. A. Lyons, known to most of his friends as "Al" Lyons, died suddenly last week on Wednesday morning at his home in this village of a heart attack. Mr. Lyons arose as usual and after taking care of the morning chores at the barn, he returned to the house for breakfast. While at the breakfast table he suddenly fell backward in his chair and died before a physician could arrive.

Albert Lyons was born in the town of Tonawanda, Erie county, New York, on Oct. 11, 1851 and lived to be 77 years, 4 months and 8 days of age. He attended the schools and received an early education in the community in which he was born. At the age of 18 years, he came with his parents to Wisconsin, in 1869, and settled in the town of Grant, Clark county, near Neillsville. He was married to Miss Nellie Breed on April 2, 1879. After farming for a number of years, the Lyons family moved to the village of Granton. One daughter, Miss Beulah was born to this union. In 1889, his wife died and she was buried in the Neillsville cemetery. In June, 1897, he married Miss Della Shafer who now survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Lyons moved from Granton to a small farm near Loyal, on the Spencer road, and after residing there for a time, they moved into the village of Loyal where they made their home since. The funeral services were held at 10:30 o’clock on Saturday morning at the M. E. Church here with the Rev. Wilson Mallory, of Granton, officiating. Interment took place in the cemetery at Neillsville.

The deceased leaves, one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Snell, who lives in the west, two grandsons and two granddaughters, and one sister, Mrs. M. C. Redmond of Neillsville.

Mr. Lyons had enjoyed exceptionally good health until the past year, but remained active until death overtook him on Wed. morning. Mr. Lyons was one of Clark county’s oldest settlers, and leaves a host of friends who mourn his loss.

The Tribune extends sympathy to the bereaved.
