Fritsche, Joseph Sr. (6 Dec 1847 - 4 Mar 1926)

Joseph Fritsche Sr. died March 4th, 1926, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. C. Ludwig, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 27 days. Death was due to old age.

He was born in Konighs Wald, Austria, Dec. 6th, 1847. In 1880 he was married to Veronica Peissig and March 4th, 1883, he came tot he town of Little Black, five miles northwest of Dorchester, Clark County, Wis., and living there just 43 years to the day of his death. He resided on the farm until 1913 when he moved to Stetsonville where he resided until five weeks ago, when he wished to go to the old homestead, now owned by A. C. Ludwig, to spend the remaining days of his life.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and six children, Mrs. Josie Murphy, Madison, Frank and Herman, Dorchester, Joe, Mrs. Anna Ludwig and Rudolph, town of Little Black. One daughter, Mrs. Mary Murray, Phoenix, Ariz., preceded him in death on March 21st, 1919. He also has one sister, Mrs. Frank Peissig, 24 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Stetsonville, Monday morning March 8th at 10 a.m., interment taking place at the Stetsonville Cemetery, Rev. Joseph Betz officiating.

The pallbearers were his four sons and two sons-in-law.

He was a good Christian, living up to the rules of his church and a pioneer farmer in the town of Little Black and as such deserves much honor as one who helped make this country what it is.

The following relatives and friends from out of town attended the funeral, Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Murphy, Madison, Mrs. Arthur Laabs, Colby, Mrs. Anna Peissig and Joseph Pueschner Sr., Dorchester, Mrs. Mollie McRae, Ashland, and Mrs. Emerson, Minneapolis.
