De Sota, Jacob (19 JUL 1872 - 16 JUN 1925)

Jake De Sota died at the Marshfield Clinic Tuesday, June 16th, 1925 at the age of 52 years, 10 months and 27 days, death resulting from complications. The funeral services were held at the home one mile south of of Unity Thursday, and interment took place at the Unity Cemetery. Mr. Se Sota had been ill since February. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, three sons, Martin of Milwaukee, Archie of Minneapolis, and Ivan at home, two daughters, Pearl and Lena, both at home, one brother, John of Withee, and four sisters out west, all of who were present at the funeral. The De Sotas lived near town (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.) for a long time, moving to Unity five years ago. The many friends extend sincerest sympathy tot he bereaved ones.

Jacob De Sota was born in Kodsand, Holland, July 19th, 1872, came to America with his parents when at the age of five years and settled in Sheboygan, Co., Wis., where he made his home with his parents until he met with Miss Mary Holdt, with whom he was united in marriage in 1892. They lived in different sections of the state until five years ago they settled on a farm about 1 1/2 miles south of Unity. His health was on a decline for some time, but was still able to perform his duties until the last ten days, when he failed very fast. June 16th, he answered the final roll call to be released from his suffering, at the age of 52 years, 10 months and 27 days, and is survived by a wife and five children: Archie of Minneapolis; Martin of Milwaukee; Pearl, Ivan and Lena, all of Unity; five grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Simon Hoitegga, John De Sota and Mrs. Joe Terpstra of Oglivia, Minn.; Mrs. Joe Oleson of Hennriette, Minn.; Mrs. Peter Vork of Melville, Montana and Wm. De Sota of Withee.

The funeral services were held at the home Thursday, June 18th, at two o'clock in the afternoon and interment was made in the Unity Cemetery, with the Rev. G. E. Zellmer, pastor of the Evangelical Church at Marshfield, officiating.

Many friends from nearby and Dorchester paid their tribute to their true neighbor and friend. Brother De Sota does not move among his neighbors and friends and family, but his life and deeds live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
