Thomas, Clara E. (21 AUG 1889 - 13 Sep 1928)

Clara Eliza, daughter of Don A. and Mary Sauvain Thomas, was born at Crystal Plains, Kansas, August 21, 1889, and departed this life at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Wisconsin, Thursday, Sept. 13, 1928, at the age of thirty-nine years and twenty-three days.

In the year of 1890 the parents with their family moved to a farm south of Spokeville, Wisconsin where they remained for eleven years, coming to Loyal, Wisconsin in 1901 and during which time Clara reached her twelfth milestone, entering school at the fall term and graduating from the Loyal High School in the year of 1906. After her graduation, she found herself in poor health and remained at home for a number of years until she felt physically strong enough to undertake the task of business life. She was then employed for a number of years as sales lady in local stores. About a year ago she accepted a position with a firm at Spencer, Wisconsin.

About the first of the present year she was compelled to enter a hospital for medical and surgical attention, and since that time has been in declining health, and more or less a constant sufferer up until 7:27 Thursday evening, Sept. 13, 1928, when her spirit peacefully returned to Him who gave it.

August 24, 1904, under the pastorate of the Rev. J. A. Hill, she united with the Loyal Methodist Church, Loyal, Wisconsin, of which she has been a faithful and consistent member.

She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Don A. Thomas, Loyal, Wis., one sister, Mrs. Stella Fisher, Spokeville, Wisconsin, and one brother, Roy, of Loyal, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by one sister, May, who died at Crystal Plains, Kansas, August 29, 1881.

The funeral which was largely attended, was held on Sunday, Sept. 16, 1928 at 2:00 P. M. at the local M. E. Church, Rev. G. C. Wadding officiating.

Beautiful and numerous floral pieces of all description betokened the love and esteem in which the departed one was held by friends and relatives.

She was of an affable disposition and leaves a host of friends to mourn her departure.
