Tykac, Bohumil (11 Jan. 1872 - 8 March 1932)

Bohumil Tykac, for the past two years a resident of Granton, passed away March 8, 1932, at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 15 days.

Mr. Tykac was born in Bohemia, Jan. 11, 1872. He came to this country at the age of 20 years. He worked in Chicago for 8 years, then came to Columbia, Wis. On October 27, 1898, he was married to Jennie Nemec of Columbia.

They lived there on a farm for 12 years. Mr. Tykac held an office there for 10 years. In 1912 he was appointed mail carrier at Granton and one year later bought a small farm, which he was taken care of until 1930, when he purchased a home in the village of Granton. He retired as mail carrier in Dec., 1930 after carrying for 19 years.

It is believed that a tumor on the brain caused his death. He fell into a sleep Saturday afternoon from which he failed to awaken.

Mr. Tykac was a cheerful man and respected by all who knew him. He was a good neighbor, and a kind and loving husband and father. His wife, three sons, Emil and Frank of Granton, Theodore of Detroit, Mich and two grandchildren remain to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, at Methodist Episcopal church, Rev. Bennetts having charge of the rites.

Burial took place at Windfall cemetery. The pall bearers were: Ed. Schroeder, Chas. Neinas, George Frei, Oswald Pischer, George Fraizer and Paul Garbisch.

The token reads, "Clerk of camp 10745".  Could this perhaps been a Modern Woodmen/Royal Neighbors camp in Columbia during the years he lived there, and he was an officer in it?
Token is about the size of a fifty cent piece or slightly larger. Please contact Steve Roberts if you
have additional information.
