Klein, Gerhard (26 FEB 1913 - 15 Augl 2004)

Gerhard Klein, 91, Spencer, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at the Miller Alternative Care Center, Marshfield. Following a 2 p.m. visitation, funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August. 19, at Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Rebecca Jorstad will officiate.

Gerhard Klein was born Feb. 26, 1913, in the town of Brighton, to Edward and Leona (nee Manthe) Klein, He attended Brighton schools. He married Isabelle Stelzl on May 31, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. She died Oct. 27, 2003. The couple farmed in the town of Brighton, Marathon County from 1940, until the present. He was always proud of his farming heritage and loved farming the land he cleared with a horse and plow. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spencer, and a former director of the Spencer State Bank, and Clark Electric Cooperative.

He is lovingly survived by one daughter, Sharon (Paul) Engstrom, Eau Claire; one son, Gary Klein, Spencer; one brother, Walter Klein, Spencer; and one sister, Gladys Geiger.

Preceding him in death were two brothers and one sister.

Memorials in his name May be designated to Hospice Home Care.

The family wished to thank the Miller Alternative Care Center and Ministry Home Hospice for the tender loving care and attention Gerhard received.

Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
