Gretzner, Dorothea (8 May 1839 - 24 May 1926)

Mrs. Dorothea Gretzner died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Nelson, on Monday, May 24th, 1926, after an illness of about five weeks.

Mrs. Gretzner was born in Germany, May 8, 1839. She received her religious and secular education in the Parochial school of her native country.

In 1859 she was married to Mr. Christ Gretzner and to this union 11 children were born, 4 of whom preceded the mother in death.

The family immigrated to this country in the year 1884 and after a stay of one year at Bloomfield, wis., they moved onto a farm near Loyal, Clark County, Wis. In 1895 the husband and father died and the mother remained on the farm until about 20 years ago. Since that time, she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John Nelson.

She leaves to mourn her departure, one son, six daughters, 13 grandchildren and one brother.

The funeral was held at the home on Thursday afternoon, Rev. Pohlman officiating. She was laid to rest in the Union Cemetery.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, from henceforth, yea saith the Spirit, that they May rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
