Haslow, Lynda (20 JUN 1925)

(Spencer Record)

On Saturday evening, June 20th, 1925, at 8 o'clock in Holy Trinity Church, Lynda, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haslow, was given in marriage to John G. Karau. The impressive and dignified ceremony was witnessed by a well-filled church. Miss Alma Schmidt, a companion and friend of the bride, played the wedding march, "Bridal Roses."

The bride was attired in a white beaded georgette garment, wearing a bridal veil graced with pearls and rhinestones, and carried a bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. The groom wore a well fitting blue serge. Miss Frieda Raabe, maid of honor, was gowned in yellow georgette and held a bouquet of orchid canterberry bells. Miss Mary Day of St. Croix Falls filled with rare aptness the role of bridesmaid. Miss Day appeared in green crepe de chine and carried a nosegay of snapdragons. Little Margaret Boock executed her part in the ceremony as flower girl with such ease and grace that all who saw her smiled and admired. She was dressed in georgette, and carried sweet peas. Lyle Davel of Spencer and Sigvald Thompson of St. Croix Falls, acted as best man and attendant, respectively. John Schuster and Theodore Schwantes served as ushers.

Following the ceremony a royal reception was given at the parental home of the bride. Only the immediate relatives of both the bride and groom and a few friends were present. The color scheme and general arrangement of affairs as well as the sumptuous culinary offering made it a reception that will long survive in the memory of the guests.

Neither the bride nor the groom require an introduction to the Record's readership. Hence let it suffice to say that both are well equipped with intelligence and character sufficient to meet, we hope, the burdens of life as they come. We wish them well and hope that their journey will be a long and prosperous one.
