Arquette, Mary Ann (23 JUN 1839 - 2 Dec 1925)

Mrs. Joseph Arquette, an old and respected resident of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., was called to her final resting place, Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1925, at 6 A.M.

Mrs. Arquette had gradually failed in health since the death of her husband in June, and about two weeks ago was taken with a severe cold and gradually weakened until the end came, very peacefully, in the gray shadows of the morn.

Mary Ann Bradley was born in Bellville, St. Clare Co., Ill., June 23, 1839, and spent her early childhood at that place. She was united in marriage to Joseph Arquette, Oct. 15, 1857 at Kilbourn City, Wis. They lived to celebrate their 67th Anniversary, which is something very unusual.

To this union were born eight children, five having preceded them in death.

Mrs. Arquette was a War Widow. She was very highly esteemed in the community in which sh lived, was a kind and loving mother, a faithful wife and daughter, gained the respect and good will of all with whom she came in contact, having lived a good, honest life, always having a pleasant word for all, and friends were always welcome in her home.

The profusion of beautiful flowers showed the high esteem in which she was held.

She bore her burden very bravely in the passing away of her husband and sister, a short time ago, and always said "she was ready to go." She attained the age of 86 years, 5 months and 9 days.

She leaves to mourn her loss, 3 daughters, Mrs. Wm. Haskin of Milwaukee, Mrs. George Kinister of Wis. Rapids, and Mrs. Charles D. Wynne of Clammath Falls, Oregon; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In the home she has lived for 22 years, were held the last rites Friday P.M. at 1:30 o'clock, Dec. 4. Three beautiful hymns were rendered by the choir, "Sweet Hour of Prayer," "Going Down the Valley, One by One," and "We Shall Sleep, but Not Forever," and with Rev. Mallory's comforting words chosen from the text, "Favor is deceitful and beautify is vain, but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised," Proverbs 31:30, concluded the services at the home.

The pallbearers were members of the American Legion. She was laid to rest beside relatives in the Lynn Cemetery.
