Sweet, Clara (24 AUG 1877 - 25 May 1924)

On Friday morning a gloom spread over this whole vicinity when it became know that Mrs. Frank Sweet had suffered a stroke. Upon getting up that morning she complained of being dizzy. Mr. Sweet went to the barn to feed the horses and then as was his custom, he came back to the house to see how she was. He found her lying on the floor unable to speak. He called the doctor and some other neighbors. Help soon arrived and all that could be done was done, but Mrs. Sweet passed away without regaining speech. Her daughter, Mrs. Walter Oestreich, arrived at her bedside before she died and her son Gerney arrived shortly after she had passed away.

Clara Lenhart was born Aug. 24, 1877. She was united in marriage to Mr. Frank Sweet in 1893 in Granton, Clark County, Wis. Mrs. Sweet has only lived in our neighborhood two short years, but in that length of time she had made many friends. Upon getting acquainted with her, one learned to know her true worth. She was a great lover of her home and loved her family and her thought was always of others before thinking of herself. She loved her friends and was a very willing worker, always lending a helping hand wherever it was possible for her to do so. Her smiling face and congenial manner won her many friends. She will be sadly missed by her loved ones and there will be an empty space in our circle and we shall all greatly miss her. She leaves her husband, two daughters, four sons, her father and mother and some grandchildren, besides sisters and brothers and a host of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral was held from the home Tuesday and her body laid to rest in the Loyal Cemetery. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the sorrowing family.
