Bethelva Leota Brandt, 97, 230 East 4th Ave., Stanley, WI, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at Victory Medical Center Nursing Home in Stanley.

Bethelva was born Nov. 6, 1903 to Francis and Minnie (Fox) Gibbs in Packwaukee, WI. When Beth was a young child, her parents moved to a farm south of Thorp, Clark County, WI. She attended Breezy Hill School and graduated from Thorp High School in 1921. After graduating from Ramsey County Teachers College in St. Paul, MN in the 1920's she went on to teach at Eaton Center, Fernwald and South Worden, all in Clark County, WI. On June 16, 1926 she married Carl Brandt who farmed in South Worden until his death in 1968.

For 30 years she was clerk of the South Worden School Board. She is a charter member of Faith Evangelical Free Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and volunteered in the lower division of the school. She will be remembered as a lady who was cheerful, kind, considerate and willing to help those in need. Her failing health over the past few years has hindered her from demonstrating her care and concern for others. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
