Reynold E. Syth, 87, Greenwood, died on Monday, May 24, 2004, at Neillsville Memorial Home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., on Thursday, May 27, with a combined parish and Knights of Columbus rosary service held at 5 p.m. at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood City cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Scott Adler, Mark Adler, Mike Adler, Derek Syth, Ryan Syth and Tim Syth.

Reynold Edward Syth was born Sept. 7, 1916, in the town of Eaton, to Jack and Emma [nee Wollenberg] Syth. He was raised and educated in the Greenwood area, graduating from Greenwood area, graduating from Greenwood High School, as valedictorian, in 1934. He married Helen Schmidt on Oct. 25, 1941, in Neillsville. He worked for Wuethrich Creamery for several years before moving to the family farm in 1946. They retired and moved to Greenwood in 1979. His wife, Helen, passed away on July 5, 1996. He continued to reside in Greenwood until entering Memorial Nursing Home in 2001. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Parish, the Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus Lady Fatima Council #4963. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and dancing.

Survivors include two daughters, Luanne (Dilip) Nandwana, Castro Valey, Calif., and Colleen (Dick) Adler, Greenwood: three sons, Dennis (Joyce) Syth, Greenwood, Kevin (Diane Opelt) Syth, Greenwood, and Kent (Linda) Syth, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; and on great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Helen; one brother, Don Syth; and one sister, Albertine Krueger. Memorials May be designated to St. Mary’s Memorial Fund.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
