Bow, Edwin L. (16 NOV 1883 - 28 OCT 1927)

Edwin Lyman Bow, eldest son of Edgar W. and Caroline C. Bow, was born at Wilson, St. Croix Co., Wis., Nov. 16, 1883.

He received his early education in the home schools and after finishing the eighth grade he attended the Dunn County Normal School at Menomonie, from which he graduated with the first graduating class of the normal. He taught for a few years in the rural schools of Dunn County and then attended the river Falls Normal and also a short course in the University of Minnesota.

On Feb. 4, 1915, he was united in marriage to Pearl Wilson of Durand. Soon after his marriage he went to Dakota, where he was engaged as principal in the schools at Rogers and the Green County Consolidated Schools. Returning to Wisconsin he was for a time engaged as a representative of the South St. Paul Live Stock Exchange.

About this time he decided to take up the profession of Chiropractor and attended and graduated from the Palmer School at Davenport, Iowa. This profession he followed to the time of his illness. He has been practicing the past two years at Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.

About last February his health began to decline and he had steadily failed until he was obliged to submit to an operation in hopes of relief. All that medical science could do was of no avail and he passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital of Eau Claire, Wis., on Friday evening Oct. 28, 1927, at the age of 43 years, 11 months and 12 days.

He leaves to mourn his untimely death his wife and daughter Vivian, his aged father, two brothers, Roy and Max, besides other relatives and a host of sorrowing friends.

The funeral services were conducted at the home of this father and brothers in Waubeck. Addresses were made by Rev. S. J. Lambright, pastor of the Methodist Church at Neillsville, Wis., and Rev. F. S. Smith, pastor of the Methodist Church of Eau Galle, Wis. Mr. Reuben Doughty of Durand rendered two excellent vocal selections.

Interment was made in the Waubeck Cemetery and was in charge of Rev. Lambright and the Downsville Lodge, I. O. O. F.

Lyman Bow was of a congenial, kindly nature and made friends who will long remember him. A great many of his former pupils were present at the funeral, as well as a host of relatives and friends from Neillsville, Mondovi, Durand and the surrounding country.
