Val F. Payleitner

Val Payleitner, of Neillsville, passed away Tuesday, April 13, at the age of 85.

Val was born on September 28, 1918 in Sheboygan, the son of Anthony and Lillian (Dreps) Payleitner. He was a graduate of Port Washington High School and a scholarship recipient of Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana.

Val served in the United States Air Force, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was president of the Neillsville Foundry and the Division BarclAy Foundry Industries, Inc., and employee of International Harvester.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Lady of Fatima Council #4921, a member of the American Foundry Association and the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post #73 in Neillsville.

Beloved husband. of Edie (nee Fohey), for 57 years. De0arest father of Greg (Cecilia) Payleitner of Wauwatosa, Marcia Payleitner of Milwaukee, Margaret Smith of Rockton, Ill., Claudia (Andy) Whitefield of Kingman, Ariz., and Chuck of Neillsville.

Val is further survived by brother, Norman "Buzz" (Pat) Payleitner of Elm Grove, Jo Mueller-McCain of Fla., Flo (Paul) McGillis of Alaska and Wis., Mary Ann (Gil) Wick of Fla. and Allan (Julie) Payleitner of Fla. Fun loving grandfather of Andrew Manz of Milwaukee, Adam and Michelle Payleitner of Wauwatosa, and Nicole and Clare Smith of Rockton, Ill.; great~grandfather of Aaren Paulowski.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Doug.

The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. The celebrant will be Fr. Woodrow H. Pace. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist; Rita Kuchenbecker and Carol Glaze, soloists and St. Mary's Choir. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery with Military Rites in Milwaukee.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service at the Gesche Funeral Home, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church.

Many thanks to the staff at the Memorial Medical Center for the excellent care and the power of "Prescence" from the Alzheimer's Support Group.

Val will be further remembered and dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Val's family with funeral arrangements.
