McKenzie, James (1852? - 29 Nov. 1925)

James McKenzie, one of the early settlers of Clark County and for many years a resident of the town of Loyal, died Sunday night in Marshfield, in which city he has lived for the past few years. He was about 73 years and 6 months old.

Mr. McKenzie was born in Canada and moved to Outagamie County in 1881, and about 2 years later came to Clark County, purchasing land in the town of Loyal.

He worked in lumber camps in the winter and developed a good farm. He was a man of upright principles and highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was active in the work of the Presbyterian Church of which he has for many years a member.

Mr. McKenzie was one of the eight brothers, five of whom still survive, Dave and Thomas in Washington, Daniel and Sam in Milwaukee and Alexander in Michigan. He also leave three sisters, Margaret in Canada, Mary in Milwaukee, and Mrs. Harry Hewett of Neillsville; and three daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Frank Moulton in California, Mary at home and Emma, Mrs. Alfred Storm in Marshfield.
