Sweet, Clara (24 AUG 1878 -25 APR 1924)

Mrs. Frank Sweet died at her home near Loyal, Clark County, Wis., Friday morning, April 25, 1924, as the result of a stoke of apoplexy. Her husband was at the barn when the fatal stroke came and found her unconscious, although every effort for her relief was made. Mrs. Sweet, whose maiden was Clara Leonhard, was born at Nasonville, Wood Co., Wis., Aug. 24, 1878. She was married to Frank Sweet of Granton, Clark County in 1893. They lived in different parts of Wisconsin, all of their married life being spent in this state, except a few years at Ogallala, Neb. For the past two years they lived near Loyal.

She was a woman who made friends readily wherever she went. One of her neighbors writes of her as follows:

"Mrs. Sweet has only lived in our neighborhood two short years, but in that length of time she made many friends. Upon getting acquainted with her, one learned to know her true worth. She was a great lover of her home and loved her family, and her thought was always of others before thinking of herself. She loved her friends and was a very willing worker, always lending a helping hand wherever it was possible for her to do so. Her smiling face and congenial manner won her many friends. She will be sadly missed by her loved ones and there will be an empty space in our circle and we shall all greatly miss her."

She leaves her husband and six children, four sons and two daughters: Harry of Ogallala, Neb.; Gilbert and Merle of Monroe, Wis.; Gurney of Chili; Therese, Mrs. Walter Oestreich of Park Falls; Beatrice, Mrs. Aug. Boushon of Park Falls. She leaves also six grandchildren, her father, mother and one sister.

The funeral was held at the home on Tuesday following her death, burial taking place in the Loyal Cemetery.
