Steuerwald, Charles (15 MAY 1876 - 21 NOV 1923)

Charles Steuerwald died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 1923, at the Eau Claire Hospital, where he had been taken a few days previous. In September he met with an accident, an injury to his head, which resulted, it is thought, in a slight hemorrhage in the brain. He continued at his work, however, and it was hoped that he would entirely recover, but a sudden relapse brought a change for the worse.

Charles Steuerwald was born at Adell, Sheboygan Co., May 15, 1876. He grew to manhood there and 24 years ago came to Loyal, Clark County, Wis. On Dec. 12, 1900, he was married to Miss Lena Jahr of the town of Grant, Clark County, and they went to live on a farm near Loyal, where they remained 18 years. Five years ago Mr. Steuerwald, having a position as traveling salesman for farm and barn equipment, they moved to Neillsville, which has been their home since. In all his business relations, Mr. Steuerwald was thoroughly conscientious and honest. He was careful not to misrepresent the articles he sold and to install only those articles which would be of permanent benefit to his patrons. In the community he was quiet and unassuming, but secured the confidence and respect of all who made his acquaintance. His home life was ideal; he was a good husband and kind father. His death, while yet in the prime of life seems a real calamity to the home and family, and the keenest sympathy is felt for the bereaved family by all who know them. He leaves his wife and three children: Alma aged 18, Merlin 15, and Eileen 11, all at home.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
