Thoma, Bertha R. (30 JUL 1897 - 11 NOV 1923)

Mrs. Arthur Thoma, who died at 6:35 Sunday morning, Nov. 11, 1923, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, was born in Elgin, Ill., July 30, 1897. Her maiden name was Bertha Rosetta Marquardt, and she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Marquardt. She received her education and grew to womanhood in Elgin. She received baptism and became a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church at the age of fourteen and lived an earnest Christian life.

She was united in marriage with Arthur Thoma of the town of Weston, Clark County, Wis., Oct. 8, 1919, going immediately to live on their own farm in Seif, Clark County. To this union were born three sons, Harold, Donald and a baby boy. All that kind friends and medical skill could do was done to save her life, which seemed to necessary and so precious to her home and husband and children, but of no avail. Her death indeed seems little less than a calamity to the bereaved family, and only as the coming years shall reveal the purposes and wisdom of a divine Providence, can we hope to discover how it is "He doeth all things well."

Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her early death, her parents, four sisters, Mrs. James Cooper, Mrs. Esther Hays, both of Neillsville, Mrs. Harry Tulare and Miss Clara Marquardt of Rochester, Minn., and one brother, John Marquardt of Neillsville.
