Bernard Clouse

Bernard I. Clouse, 81, Loyal, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Lighthouse Elder Care, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, at Cornerstone Community Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Larry Jones officiated.

Bernard Ira Clouse was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Loyal, to Ira and Jennie (nee Lewis) Clouse. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Mack country school and graduated from Loyal High School in 1939. He continued to work on the family farm. He married June Murphy on Jan. 5, 1946, at the Loyal United Methodist Church. He purchased a farm in the Town of Loyal in 1948. In 1953, he started a farm equipment sales and service business in Loyal, presently CW sales, which he sold to his son Dave, in 1978. He semi-retired in 1980, and spent time traveling around the world with his wife. He retired in 1988 and continued to reside in Loyal until moving to Marshfield in 2001. He was an active member of the Loyal Free Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school and served on the church board for more than 50 years. He served on the Mack school board for many years, and was a 12-year member of the Loyal School Board, the last six years serving as president. He served as chairman of the Town of Loyal from 1980-1992, and was a charter member of the local Gideons International organization. His interests included spending time with his family and friends, singing praises and hymns, reading, traveling, gardening, and doing hospice volunteer work.

Survivors include his wife, June, Marshfield; three daughters, Charlene (Michael) Rinehart, Estes Park, Colo., Faith (Lyle) Zimmerman, Rochester, Minn., and Alice (Robert) Willis, Marshfield; two sons, David (Judy) Clouse, Loyal, and Stephen (Ellen) Clouse, Auburn, Virginia; and 14 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Elgy Clouse; and five sisters, Pearl Weaver, Ruby Rupp, Beulah Reigel, Verna Reigel, and Mary Jan Clouse.

Memorials May be given to Gideon International.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
