Eugene Fredrickson

Eugene K. Fredrickson, 67, Neillsville, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in the emergency room of the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 29, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. James Mohr officiated. Music was provided by Jodi Rueth. Military rites were accorded by the Loyal American Legion Post #175.

Eugene Keith Fredrickson was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Mason City, Iowa, to Oscar and Florence (nee Walton) Fredrickson. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1954, and then enlisted in the United States Army on Nov. 18, 1954. He was based in Germany during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 3, 1956. He married Doris Elaine Holtz on Nov. 7, 1959, in Neillsville. They farmed in the Globe area, and he worked for the Wedges Creek Research Farm. She died on Aug. 25, 1972. He married Joanne M. Chambers on Aug. 11, 1973. At the time he was still working at the Wedges Creek Research farm. He worked there until it closed, and then went to work as an area manager for the Meridian Group. He worked there until his retirement. His interests included woodworking, and he made many things for his daughters, grandchildren, and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne; six daughters, Debra (Dave) Goldbach, Eau Claire, Diane (Mark) Selz, Sun Prairie, Becky (Jerome) Rossman, Neillsville, Darci (Mike) Mahoney, Owen, Karla (Mark) Pfuhl, Wausau, and Kristy (Jeff) Sischo, Neillsville; 12 grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Jordyn, Danielle, Dillion, Daniel, Justine, Derek, J.C., Dustin, Teeghan, and Tyler; one brother, Ordean Fredrickson, Forest City, Iowa; two sisters, Sheri (Don) Dakin, Moravia, Iowa, and Sandy (Dennis) Vestweber, Leland, Iowa; and a son-in-law, Dan Soma, Wisconsin Dells.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and one daughter, Dawn Soma.

The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
