Glass, Robert J. (29 July 1873 - 23 Oct. 1922)

Monday morning, Oct. 23, Robert J. Glass passed away at the home of his mother on Court Street, after a lingering illness from tuberculosis.

Robert was born July 29, 1873, in Neillsville, being the son of Louis J. and Cornelia Glass, and has lived practically all his life here, except for a short time when he worked at Mondovi and a year spent in the M. W. A. Hospital in Colorado. When quite young he learned the barber trade, at which he became an expert. For many years he was a member of the National Guards, and always took an active interest in military matters and was very patriotic.

About two years ago, while working at Mondovi, he had pneumonia, which laid the foundation for tubercular trouble later on, and although he fought manfully against the disease it at last proved fatal.

Although of slight physique he was brave of spirit, always cheerful and courageous, meeting everyone with a glad message. Everybody liked him. He as a kind and affectionate son and brother and always thoughtful to those about him. He will be greatly missed not only in his home, but also by the people along the streets of Neillsville, who will no longer hear his cheerful greetings. He leaves his mother, two sisters, Mrs. R. E. Thompson of Hartford and Mrs. Will Dahnert of Neillsville and three brothers, Frank of North St. Paul, Fred of Hayward and George at home, to mourn his death. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, at the home, Rev. Longenecker officiating, the Modern Woodmen of which deceased was a member, giving their ritual ceremony.
