Kolar, Joseph (26 July 1867 - 10 Aug. 1922)

Joseph Kolar, a well-known resident of the town of Levis, died at his home Thursday afternoon, Aug. 10, after a lingering illness. He was born July 26, 1867, while his parents were on the ocean coming to America. They came to Chicago where deceased grew to manhood, and where for a long time he was employed by the big packing firm to Swift & Co. Sixteen years ago he came with his wife and family to Clark County and settled on a farm in Levis which has been the family home ever since, though Mr. Kolar from time to time went to Chicago, Sioux City and other packing centers to work for Swift & Co. A few years ago he was badly injured by dynamite while blasting stumps on his farm and the injuries received were never fully recovered from. He was a man of great energy, worked with a will at anything he undertook, and developed a good farm.

Thirty-five years ago he was married in Chicago to Josephine Pleteka, who survives him. He leaves also five children: three sons, Joseph Kolar, Jr., how lives in Chicago and Thomas and Frank at home, two daughters, Anna, Mrs. Oscar Hockett and Agnes, Mrs. F. N. Hockett, both of Dallas, Oregon. All except the latter was present at the funeral, which was held Sunday, the Modern Woodmen having charge. Burial took place in Neillsville Cemetery.

Thank you again. This is my wife's family and our first evidence of her great-grandparents on her mother's side.
