Simon, John (1 Dec. 1860 - 9 June 1922)
John Simon died at his home in this city Friday, June 9, after two years of intense suffering. Mr. Simon was born at Hartford, Wis., Dec. 1, 1860. When a boy he moved with his family to Newberg and later to Myra and about 39 years ago he came to Neillsville which has been his home ever since. On Oct. 22, 1890 he was united in marriage with Miss Martha Scholtz, who survives him. Two children were born to them, a son, who died in infancy and a daughter, Ella Simon, who lives at home.
Mr. Simon was a man of genial traits and most likable character. He had a wide circle of friends in and around Neillsville all of whom felt the keenest sympathy for him in his hours of suffering and mourn his death most sincerely. He was honest, faithful and kind-hearted, a good husband and father and an agreeable neighbor. Besides his wife and daughter he leaves three sisters, Mrs. Frank Gall, and Mrs. John Marx of Neillsville and Mrs. James Sucky of Bremmerton, Wash.
The funeral was held Monday at the Reformed Church, Rev. D. Grether officiating. Those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Floyd Turrel of Humbird, Mrs. Sidney Gowed of Alma Center, Frank Zimmerman and daughter of Humbird, Mrs. Gertrude Sherman and family of Greenwood, Mrs. James Green and son of Antigo and Mrs. Walter Janke of Chicago.
