Winscher, Rosina (1 NOV 1850 - 21 Dec 1924)

Mrs. Rosina Winscher, a resident of this community (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) for the past twenty-three years, died at her home at Nettleton's Corners last Sunday night. Death came unexpectedly, although her health had been failing for some time. She had performed her usual household duties Sunday, prepared the meals for her son and granddaughter, who lived with her, and then, as nigh came, slept peacefully over the borderland, into eternity.

Miss Rosina Winscher was born in Blumenau, Supper Silesia, Germany on Nov. 1, 1850. She grew to young womanhood in her native village, and in the year 1868, was united in marriage with Gottlieb Winscher. They made their home at the place of their birth until April 28, 1885, when they immigrated with their young family to the States, locating on a farm at Leland, Sauk Co., Wis., where relatives and friends were residing. They lived in Sauk Co. for sixteen years, coming tot he farm at the Corners in Dec. 1901. The home was bereft of the husband and father eight years ago, Mr. Winscher passing away on April 8, 1916. The grief she bore on the death of her husband was doubled just few weeks later by the tragic death of a son. Mrs. Winscher died Dec. 21, 1924, aged 74 years, 1 month and 20 days.

The funeral was held from the home on Wednesday afternoon and at the Lutheran Church at Alma Center, and burial was in the family plot beside her husband, son and daughter, in the Alma Center Cemetery.

Surviving to mourn her death are two daughters., Mrs. Susan Hanusa of Lake Geneva, and Mrs. Emma Galster, who lives south of Alma Center, two sons, Carl and Gottlieb, both living south of the village. A sister living at Madison died a few years ago, and two sisters are yet living at the old home in Germany. Twenty-one grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends mourn her death.

Mourners from out of town were Mrs. Henry Hanusa of Lake Geneva, John Heimlich and son Herman of Merrimac.
