Humiston, Lestina L. ( 10 March 1854 - 31 Dec. 1921)

Lestina L. Humiston was born in Essex County, New York, March 10, 1854, and passed away at home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Smith, at Allegan, Mich., Dec. 31, 1921. She came to Wisconsin in the fall of 1871 and was married to Jesse Humiston June 23, 1875, and moved on a little farm in the town of York where she lived for about 30 years. Her husband died in 1898.

There were three children born to this union, one daughter, Olive, dying at the age of sixteen. Those living are Mrs. Edward Davis of this city and Mrs. Charles Smith of Allegan, Mich. She leaves three grandchildren, a half brother and sister, Wm. Hurlburt of Neillsville and Mrs. Ella Poate, Taylor, Wis.; three step sisters, Mrs. Solome Gray, Mrs. Sylvia Gray, of Colby, Wis., and Mrs. J.W. Lynch of Neillsville, Wis.

She as a member of the York Center M.E. church a sincere Christian woman, quiet and unassuming in her ways, but loved by all who knew her. In her death the family had lost a devoted mother and the community one who was ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in trouble or distress.

The bereaved family has the sincere sympathy of the many friends and neighbors.

The funeral was held at York Center Wednesday, Rev. W. T. Scott officiating.
