Hemp, Augusta (16 Nov 1833 - 15 Jun 1914)

Mrs. Augusta Hemp died at the home of her daughter in Weston, Clark County, June 15th, 1914, aged 80 years, 6 months and 29 days.

Deceased was born in Germany, her maiden name being Augusta Scheel. She grew to womanhood there and was married to Ludwig Hemp in 1854. They came to America in 1871, and settled on a farm in the town of Weston, which has been their home since. Her husband died in 1885, and she continued to manage the farm with the aid of the children. Of their family of twelve children, nine are still living, namely: Otto, Fred, Louise ( Mrs. Wegner), Adolph, Albert, Ernest, Anna (Mrs. Grap), Frank and Tony. She leaves also 34 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hemp was one of that grand types of women who have done much in their everyday life to make the world better in many ways. To her industry and high Christian character, no only her family, but the entire community owes a debt of gratitude.

The funeral will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Globe Lutheran Church, Rev. H. Brandt officiating. Her six sons will act as pallbearers.
