Joseph Janes, one of the oldest and most respected settlers of Sherwood, Clark County died at the hospital in Marshfield Jan. 22, 1914. For a long time Mr. Janes drove stage on the mail line that ran out through Shortville to Nevins. He took an active interest in town and county affairs some years ago, but of late his health was poor and he rarely got away from home.
The funeral was held at Granton Jan. 24.
