Kapka, Martin (24 May 1846 - 9 Apr 1912)

Martin Kapka died at his home on the north side April 9, 1912, after a severe illness of nine weeks. Mr. Kapka was born in Washington Co., Wis., May 24, 1846. He enlisted in Milwaukee Jan. 22, 1864, in the Second Battalion Light Artillery, and was discharged Jul 10, 1865 at the close of the war. He was married at Hingham, Wis., Oct. 25, 1868 to Amelia Keener, who survives him. They came to Neillsville, Clark County in March 1881, and made their home here ever since. Mr. Kapka followed the trade of blacksmith and was considered a most excellent workman, doing his work faithfully and well. He was a man who had no enemies and deserved only the best wishes of his fellow men. He was a member of the G.A.R. and took much interest in the order. Three children are left to mourn his death, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Dwyer and Mrs. John Lunch, and one son, Charles. The funeral will be held Friday at two p.m. at the home, Rev. Prucia officiating.
