Tomz, Gertrude (27 Apr 1883 - 9 Jan 1911)

This community was saddened Monday, Jan. 9, 1911, by the news that Mrs. Gertrude Tomz had died at an early hour that morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wolff. She had been critically ill for some days past, but hopes had been entertained that the crisis was past and she would recover. Her husband, who was absent on his commercial trips, arrived a few hours before she died.

Gertrude Wolff was born in Neillsville, Clark County, April 27, 1883. She grew up here, attended our schools, and later was employed for some time in offices at the court house. Her faithfulness and efficiency, her courtesy and helpfulness, and her jolly, pleasant disposition won for her many friends from all over the county. She was married to William Tomz, Sept. 10, 1908. In Aug. 1909 they went east to live, remaining there one year. Since their return she has been at her parents’ home.

She leaves besides her husband, father, mother, one brother George, and sister Jessie, and very many friends to mourn her death.

The funeral was held Wednesday at the home, Rev. H.A. Risser officiating.

The Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a member, assisted in the ceremonies.
