Burgess, Marcia R. (13 Nov 1857 - 23 Jul 1910)

Mrs. Frank Burgess died Jul 23, 1910 at a hospital in Appleton, where she had undergone a surgical operation. The news of her death came as a great shock to her relatives and many friends here. Deceased, whose maiden name was Marcia Rosilla Head, was born at Cataract, Monroe, Co., Wis., Nov. 13, 1857. She came to Neillsville, Clark County with her parents in May 1867. Here she attended school, graduating from the high school in 1875, with the first class that graduated from this school. In 1883 she was married to Frank Burgess, who survives her. For some years past they have resided at Tony, Wis. At the age of twenty-one deceased united with the Presbyterian Church. Her life has been that of a sincere and consistent Christian, combining high intelligence with a kind heart and sweet disposition that made her loved by all who knew her.

Besides her husband she leaves her aged mother, Mrs. Almira Head, two children, Neil W. and Beatrice Lydia, one sister, Mrs. Laura Morris of this city and one brother, M.G. Head of Portland, Ore. To all these her death comes as a great sorrow, and many expressions of sympathy are heard from the group of old friends who have known her and them through the years gone by.

The remains were brought here for burial, the funeral taking place at the mother’s home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W.P. Burrows officiating.
