Schmutlzer, Audrey M. (19 Jan 1919 - 20 Jul 2002)

Audrey Schmutzler, 83, Colby, formerly of Riplinger, died on Saturday, Jul 20, 2002, at Colonial Center, Colby. Funeral services were held at noon on Tuesday, Jul 23, at First United Church of Christ, Colby. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix officiated. Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Bauer, Todd Schmutzler, Galen Hanne, Neil Witte, Lyle Wolf and Scott Schmutzler.

Audrey Marie Matilda Hanne was born on Jan. 19, 1919, in the town of Hull, Marathon County, to Charles and Emma (nee Pacholke) Hanne. She attended Riverside School. She married Woodrow E. Schmutzler on June 6, 1936, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Parsonage, Marshfield. Her interests included cooking, baking, gardening, preserving and garage sales.

Survivors include three sons, Woodrow (Sherry) Schmutzler Jr., Riplinger, James (Elsie) Schmutzler, Riplinger, and Allen (Penny) Schmutzler, Riplinger; one daughter, Sally Bauer, Unity; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon (Jeanette) Hanne, Yuma, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Jun Behrens, Mildred Hanne and Irene Hanne; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were here husband, Woodrow, on Dec. 7, 1998; her parents; one daughter; one daughter-in-law; and a sister and brothers.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
