Samantha Thoma receives 2009

Tammy Backaus Memorial Scholarship

Doreen Helm (l) presents Neillsville award winner, Samantha Thoma, with the 2009 Tammy Backaus Memorial Scholarship.  Thoma has completed her first year of studies at Winona State University. The scholarship is awarded from funds raised during the annual Tammy Backaus Memorial Golf Scramble.  The family foundation is again sponsoring the Scramble June 19 at the Neillsville Country Club.  All proceeds benefit the Tammy Backaus memorial Scholarship, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and community families in need.  The 2009 scholarship recipient at Granton High School was Amelia Pucker.  (Contributed photo)
