Common Council approves Civil War Memorial to be placed in Historic Preservation Register

The Neillsville Common Council at its Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011 meeting approved of the Civil War Memorial to be added to the local Historic Preservation Register.

The memorial, located on city of Neillsville City Cemetery property at 811 E. Fifteenth Street, has been discussed as a candidate for the register and has finally been approved by the council.

The council also approved the use of the remaining $900 of the 2010 National Park Service historic Preservation Grant funds be used to purchase Raphael posts for historic plaques.

A grant application for the National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund Sub-grant was also approved.

The City clerk presented the Emergency Medical Service Funding Assistance Program Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount of $4,611.93.
