Bernitt, Selma (21 Jan 1889 – 7 Feb 1977)

Services will be held today at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, for Mrs. Selma Bernitt, age 88, Abbotsford.

The Rev. Kenneth Loehrke will officiate at the 2 p.m. service. Burial will follow in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bernitt died Monday, February 7, 1977 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

The former Selma Jacobi was born January 21, 1889, in the Town of Holton. Her first marriage was to Charles Brunner, who preceded her in death. They operated a bus line from Park Falls to Marshfield.

She later married Frank John Bernitt, March 18, 1932, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dorchester. Mr. Bernitt had served as superintendent of the Abbotsford Water Department from its beginning in 1934 to 1954. He died April 18, 1975.

Mrs. Bernitt was a charter member of the ladies aid of Christ Lutheran Church. She had resided in Abbotsford the past 45 years.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Three sons and a sister preceded her in death.
