LOYAL - Four Clark County 4-H members last week received the highest award available to 4-H youths.

The members received the Key Awards at the annual 4-H banquet October 25 at the Loyal American Legion Hall. Receiving the award were Renee Hendrickson, Maplewood Badgers; Bev Howard, Pleasant Ridge; Dan Olszewski, Parks Happy 13; and Patti Shafto, Jolly Workers.

The Friend of 4-H award was presented to Al Gajewsky, herdsman at the Clark County Health Care Center. The special services award was given to Henry Stieman, immediate past-president of the Clark County Farm Bureau.

Recognized for having outstanding projects in the 14 to 18-year age group were Perry Graph, Lucky Clovers; Donna Naedler, Romadka; Darla Newman, Maplewood Riders; and Ellen Richmond, Braun; Sheri Stiemke, Lucky Clovers, received the award for 14-18-year-old junior leadership projects. Sherry Lendowsky, Reseburg Ramblers, got the citizenship award. The foods award was given to Darla Newman, Maplewood Badgers.

Clayton Braun, Braun 4-H, was recognized for 25 years of service as a 4-H leader. Dee Rowley, Beaver Center, was honored for serving 20 years and Marie Kaiser, Beaver Center, for serving 15 years. The following were recognized for 10 years of service: Lloyd Horn and Carol Turnquist, Braun; Mary Ann Meyer and Ellen Buchholz, Happy Valley; Virginia Reis, Horse Haven; Phyllis Czech, Pine Valley; Jane Kuhn, Busy Three; Allen Scott, Ridge Runners; Betty Lou Mahovey, Jolly Workers; Roland and Ruth Radtke, Spokeville Stars.

Parks Happy 13 received the outstanding club trophy. The A-League softball trophy and volleyball award went to The Jolly Workers. Greenwood Satellites earned the B-League softball award. Herdsmanship trophies were presented to the Loyal FFA, horses; Jolly Workers, sheep; Maplewood Badgers, Swine; Chili, beef and dairy; and goats.

The secretary's award went to Barb Baltus, Willard. North Fork 4-H won the drama trophy and music awards went to Carol Turnquist, Braun; Bonnie McMyler, Atwood Acres; and Sandy Maass, Greenwood Satellites.

Recognized for their participation in speaking competition were Michelle Barth, Reseburg Ramblers; Jay Bobrofsky and Judy Walters, Jolly Workers; David Haselow and Rodney Radtke, Spokeville Stars, Danny, David and Derrick Meyer, Maplewood Badgers.

Kim Fricke, Greenwood Satellites was the top dairy judging team member. Winning team members were Bev Howard, Pleasant Ridge; Shelly Patterson, Beaver Center; Virgil Esselman, Loyal Lads and Lassies; and Danny Denk, Greenwood Satellites. The supreme champion trophy for purebreds went to Dennis Roehl, Jolly Workers, and the supreme grade trophy went to Tom Schindler, Sunshine Gang. Roger and Sharon Wundrow, North Forks leaders, received the dairy promotion award. Steve Selz, Jolly Workers, and Ellen Richmond, Braun, won outstanding dairy exhibitors awards.

At the 4-H Leaders Federation meeting after the banquet, the following new representatives were elected: Delores Lewandowski, Reseburg Ramblers, Judy Bobrofsky, Jolly Workers; Gary Steele, Happy Valley; and Missy Olson, Jolly Workers, and Jeannie Petronovich, Reseburg Ramblers, were elected as youth representatives.
