Mr. and Mrs. Bernard F. Artac are the parents of their first child, a son, Wayne Steven, born January 19 in Marshfield. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Artac of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Thieme, of Marshfield.

Montag, Mr. and Mrs. Harold (55th - 1986)

Family members gathered at the rural Chili home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Hilda Beil) Montag, on the evening of February 5, to celebrate the couple’s fifty-fifth wedding anniversary.

Among the many anniversary greetings received by the Montags was a card from President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan.

Guests at the observance included their son, Elgene Montag and wife Joyce; Idora Fenske; Harland and Viola Meissner; Geneva and Elmer Steffen; Lou Ann and Russell Lang; Esther and Gerald Dankemyer; Hazel and Lyle Doehr; Victor and Olice Montag; and Anna Montag, Harold’s ninety-seven year old mother.

Esther (Beil) Dankemyer and Victor Montag were the couple’s wedding attendants fifty-five years ago.

Holt, Amy Elizabeth (28 December 1985)

Amy Elizabeth Holt, daughter of former Neillsville residents James and Cheryl Holt, now of Black River Falls, and Kelly Sundeen, son of Rev. and Mrs. Dennis Sundeen of Black River Falls were united in marriage Saturday, December 28, at the home of the bride’s parents.

Rev. Sundeen officiated at his son’s marriage, and Cheryle Zillmer, sister of the groom was soloist.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a satin with Schiffli embroidery and pearls with a finger tip veil edged with Chantilly lace. She carried burgundy roses and white carnations. Matron of honor was her sister, Shelley Raye Simplot and Denise Mays was bridesmaid. Both were attired in burgundy rose headpieces and they each carried a single burgundy rose.

The groom, wearing a black tuxedo, was attended by best man Donald Holcomb, and groomsman Roy Simplot, both of Black River Falls. Both men wore grey Tuxedoes.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Rustic Mill, in Black River Falls.

Mr. and Mrs. Sundeen are graduates of Black River Falls High School. Mrs. Sundeen has been attending the UW-La Crosse Center and Mr. Sundeen is with the United States Navy.

Shupe, Stella A. (18 January 1986)

Stella A. Shupe and Kevin W. Lucas became husband and wife January 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. Rev. Robert Streveler witnessed the late afternoon ceremony and musical accompaniment was provided by Mary Jo Gregorich, John Schultz, and Pam Saltri. Parents of the couple are Jerome Shupe of Loyal, Jean Schupe of Milwaukee, and Mr. and Mrs. William Lucas, Rt. 1 Willard.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride chose a taffeta gown trimmed in Chantilly lace with the skirt flowing into a chapel train. Her Ascot hat was trimmed with matching lace. She carried a cascade bouquet of white and huckleberry roses, stephanotis, baby’s breath and greenery.

Bridal attendants were dressed in huckleberry taffeta gowns with Juliet sleeves and ruffled skirts forming a sweep train. Their bouquets held huckleberry roses, white carnations and daisies. Theresa Abel was maid of honor; bridesmaids were Kaila and Shelly Lucas, Kelly Brown, and Diane Kirn.

Serving as best man was Willie Lucas, while Mark Abel, Terry White, Loren Denk and Greg Lucas were groomsmen. Escorting wedding guests into the church were ushers Dave Berlick and Dan Shupe.

Following the wedding, a reception and dance took place at the Greenwood American Legion.

The bride is a student and will graduate from Greenwood High School in May 1986. A 1984 graduate of Greenwood High School, the groom in employed by Grassland Butter, Greenwood. The couple resides in Greenwood.

Clark Co.-UW-Eau Claire (Honors - 1986)

Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges 1986 will include the names of 55 seniors’ from UW-Eau Claire, who have been selected as national outstanding campus leaders.

Students were chosen on Academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities, and potential for continued success. They join as elite group of students from more than 1400 institutions of higher learning.

Selected students attending Eau Claire from the Clark County area are Michael Pinter, Abbotsford, computer science; Ellen Alsterberg, Granton, religious studies; and William Rademaker, Thorp, mathematics teaching.

Clark Co.-UW Center Marshfield (Dean’s List - 1986)

Thirty students earned placement on the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the fall semester at the UW-Center, Marshfield-Wood County.

Placement on the list is based on achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, based on a 4.0 scale. Bernadette Smith, Greenwood and Virginia Thoma, Neillsville, earned a 4.0 or straight A grade point average. Others include Wendy Anderson, Loyal; David Mayer, Neillsville; and Marie Stanley, Granton. These students will receive certificates of achievement at the annual Awards Convocation in May.

Clark Co.-Mid State Tech. Institute (Honor List - 1986)

An honor list of students earning outstanding grade point averages during the first semester has been compiled and includes the Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, and Stevens Point campuses.

Those eligible for the honor list are enrolled in a full-time program, and carry 12 credits or more, achieving a 3.25 or better grade point average.

Among those earning placement on the honor list are Angie Kopp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kopp, Jr., Rt. 2 Neillsville; Lisa Mortenson of Rt. 1 Grandview, is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Warren, Rt. 1 Neillsville; Cheryl Ann Schleifer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schleifer, 317 Sunset Place, Neillsville.
