Wichlacz, Eugene F. (1 FEB 1932 - 20 JUL 2012)

Eugene F. Wichlacz, 80, Wausau, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born February 1, 1932 in the town of Cassel, son of the late Anton and Lucille (Kordus) Wichlacz. On September 20, 1952, he married Shirley L. Mattson in Pine City, Minnesota. She survives.

Eugene was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 1952 until 1954. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 4, Athens and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8527, Athens. For many years, Eugene farmed in the Athens area and also worked for the former Crestline Windows, Wausau. In his later years, he worked as a janitor for Mountain Lanes, Wausau.

Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, playing cards and volunteering at the food pantry at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dog "Little Max".

Survivors include, his wife, Shirley Wichlacz, Wausau; four children, Michael (Lois) Wichlacz, Marathon, Allen (Lisa Lemmer) Wichlacz, Marathon, Laurie (Mark) Woller, Merrill and Timothy Wichlacz, Durango, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Leonard Feltz, Marshfield; one daughter-in-law, Mary Wichlacz, Marathon; four siblings, Edwin (Betty) Wichlacz, Milan, Roger (Joan) Wichlacz, West Bend, Gladys Martin, Marshfield and Jeffrey (Joane) Wichlacz, Auburndale; one sister-in-law, Joyce Wichlacz, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Feltz; and infant son, Arvid; one granddaughter, Nisa Golubski-Feltz; and one brother, Larry Wichlacz.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Bruce Lamont will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Lutheran Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 4, Athens and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8527, Athens. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
