Arends, Andrew A. (24 MAY 1878 – 28 MAY 1970)

Andrew Arends, 92, Colby (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 11 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 1970.

He died of old age complications at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

A rosary was said at Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby at 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services at St. Mary's catholic Church were Tuesday, June 2. At 10 a.m. The Rev. Francis Rushman officiated. He was buried in the parish cemetery.

Andrew Albert Arends was born in Ozaukee County May 24, 1878. He came to this area in 1905 and farmed in the town of Hull (Marathon Co.) until 1960. He has lived in Colby since that time.

His wife, the former Anna Knier, who he married at Hilbert on April 2, 1913, survives. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving children are Mrs. Alfred (Evelyn) Rathke of Paradise, California, Mrs. Lawrence (Irene) Heeg of Heweitt, Albion of Denver, Colorado, Leonard of Marshfield, Andrew Jr. and Walter of Colby, John of Milwaukee, and Leona, at home in Colby. He had 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Joe of Campbellsport and Edward of Portland, Oregon, survive.

Deceased are three sisters and three brothers.
