Leo Zirngibl (6 Sept 1920 - 27 Dec 1999)

Former Medford resident, Leo G. Zirngibl, 79, Rib Lake, died Monday, Dec. 27, at the Rib Lake Health Care Center, where he had resided for the past three years.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 30 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Rev. John Long officiating. Burial took place at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were his nephews, Ken Hinke, John Zirngibl, and Ryan, Neil, Ned, and Tony Schumacher.

Leo Zirngibl was born on September 6, 1920, at the Town of Little Black to the late Mike and Mary (Koestner) Zirngibl, Jr. He received his education at the Town of Little Black Elementary School and graduated from Medford Area Senior High.

His marriage to the former Agnes Schumacher, who survives, took place on June 13, 1946, at Dorchester. He worked for 45 years at the Medford Creamery, part of the time as manager. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Medford Council No. 1744 Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Colleen (Chris) Morton, Aurora, Colo.; one son, Phillip (Sharon), Hawthorne Woods, Ill.; one brother, Elmer (Trudy), Menomonee Falls; five sisters, Irene Metz, Evelyn Kapfhamer, and Anna Schumacher, all of Medford, Rita (William) Kuchenbecker, Neillsville, Marilyn (Ernest) Haug, Brookfield; and two grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Donald and Henry in infancy.
