Clarence C. Ploeckelman (28 May 1918 - 29 Aug 2002)

Clarence C. Ploeckelman, 84, Dorchester, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

He was born May 28, 1918, in the town of Holton, rural Dorchester, the son of the late Otto and Hattie (Lueddecke) Ploeckelman.

Following his early education, he helped with chores on area farms. He married the former Doris Buehler on June 3, 1944, in Medford. They rented a farm in the town of Deer Creek until 1946 and then purchased the family farm in the town of Holton where they resided until retiring in 1980. They moved to the village of Dorchester where Mr. Ploeckelman was caretaker of the Dorchester Cemeteries.

He was a member of the REA, a past board member of the Farmers Union and a member of the Dorchester Senior Citizens Club. He enjoyed playing sheepshead and bowling. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Dorchester.

Besides his wife he is survived by six sons: Bill (Irma) Ploeckelman, Stratford; Dale (Nancy) Ploeckelman, Abbotsford; Roy (Dawn) Ploeckelman, Altoona; Jim (Cheryl) Ploeckelman, Stetsonville; David (Linda) Ploeckelman, Colby; and Steve Ploeckelman, Columbus, Ohio; three daughters: Darlene (Ray) Haffermann, Hartland; Janet (Dave) Piechowski, Richfield and Bonita (Ron) Ervin, Black Rock, Ark.; two brothers, Melvin Ploeckelman, Crivitz and Leonard (Anita) Ploeckelman, Sheboygan; two half-brothers, Harvey Hanson, Sheboygan and Gordon Hanson, Phillips; one sister, Tillie Erickson, Medford; 30 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Art, Elmer and Donald Ploeckelman and a half-sister, Marion Eckes.

Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester with the Rev. Jerome Freimuth presiding. Burial was in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Chris, Eric, Jacob, Keith and Todd Ploeckelman and Mike Haffermann.
