Myrtle Smith (24 Jan 1912 - 4 Apr 2002)

Myrtle Smith, 90, Dorchester, died at her residence Thursday, April 4, 2002.

She was born January 24, 1912, in Auburndale, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Siebert) Schultz. She married George Seidel Oct. 8, 1930. He died Feb. 5, 1965. Later, on Aug. 14, 1968, she married George Smith. He died Feb. 11, 1999.

Mr. and Mrs. Seidel farmed in the town of Mayville and later owned and operated a tavern in the Village of Dorchester. She and Mr. Smith continued to operate the tavern until retirement in 1972.

She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester and a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Gerald (Judy) Seidel, Virginia Beach, Va. and Dale (Jean) Seidel, Dorchester; one daughter, Carol (Gary) Klocke, Orangeville, Ill.; four step-sons, Walter (Lois) Smith, Milwaukee, Lawrence (Beverly) Smith, Dorchester, Dick Smith, Dorchester, and George Jr. (Debbie) Smith, Toms River, N.J.; three step-daughters, Elaine Sebold, Abbotsford, Mary (Clarence) Klimpke, Dorchester, and Kathleen Thorne, Milwaukee; one sister, Verna Schiebe, Abbotsford; one brother, Earl (Trudy) Schultz, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; 26 step-grandchildren; 45 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold, and one sister, Helen.

Funeral Services were held Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. The Rev. James Schaefer presided. Interment was in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ken Klimpke, Don Seidel, Tom Klocke, Greg Smith, Jerry Schultz and Tom Smith.
