Piowni, Peter (31 DEC 1882 – 3 FEB 1972)

Peter Piwoni, 89, passed away of old age infirmities on February 3, 1972 in the Town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig's Chapel on Monday, February 7, 1972. Father John Puerner officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service, with interment being made in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandson, Gary Brickler, James Szemraj, Joseph Schesney, Daniel Kotecki, John Tauscher, and Marion Wnek, with Mark Piwoni and Jerome Wnek acting as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Piwoni, a retired farmer, was born December 31, 1882 in Poland. He came to the states in 1900. On June 8, 1908 he was united in marriage to Catherine Strzok at Thorp.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine; five sons, John and Louis of Milwaukee, Thomas of Cedarburg, Clarence of Chicago, Aloise of Tinley Park, Illinois; eight daughters, (Ida) Mrs. Joseph Schesney, (Mary) Mrs. J. Wnek, (Frances) Mrs. Anton Gierl, (Helen) Mrs. Robert Brickler, (Annette) Mrs. Carl Tauscher, (Julia) Mrs. Anton Kendel, (Lucille) Mrs. Joseph Szemraj, (Josephine) Mrs. Edward Kotecki; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Juzwiak and Mrs. Anton Dombrowski, both of Thorp; 47 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Leon, in military service during the Korean conflict, and four brothers, Steve, William Teofil, and Victor.
