Marzinske, Loretta Mae (Nelson) (19 MAY 1925 - 12 AUG 2018)

Loretta Mae Marzinske, age 93, of Dorchester, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Dycora Transitional Living in Abbotsford.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. The Rev. Richard Russow will officiate. Interment to follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester is entrusted with the arrangements.

Loretta was born on May 19, 1925, the daughter of Andrew and Carrie (Lonning) Nelson in Waseca, Minn. She graduated from New Richland High School. On Jan. 8, 1947, Loretta was united in marriage to Edwin Harold Marzinske, Sr. in Alma City, Minn. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1995.

Loretta worked at a hospital in Minneapolis, Birdseye Foods in Waseca, the Abbotsford Nursing Home and the hospital in Medford. She also farmed in Waldorf, Minn., and the Town of Mayville from 1947-78.

Loretta was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies’ Aid. She enjoyed playing cards, square dancing and crocheting. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.

Loretta is survived by three children, Shirley (Russ) Buss of Athens, Ed Marzinske, Jr. of Dorchester and Diane Marzinske (John Borgemoen) of Holcombe; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by her brother, Bert Nelson of Owatonna, Minn.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Cheryl Baeten; a grandson, Gary Buss; two great-grandchildren, Jack Baeten and Anthony Hammel and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Nelson.
