A beautiful wedding occurred at St. John's Lutheran Church, Yllow River, on Saturday, May 1, 1971, at 1:30 p.m., when Miss Judith Fay Lis became the bride of Roger H. Thompson. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lis, Lublin, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thompson Sr., Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).
James Lis, brother of the bride, and Richard Thompson Jr., brother of the groom, ushered the guests to their seats.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was wearing a white street length knit dress with long sleeves. Her veil was held by a Dior bow. She carried a bouquet of white carnations tipped orchid with a cymbidium orchid in the center.
Miss Susan Lis, Stevens Point, was her sister's only attendant. She was wearing an orchid street length knit dress styled identical to that of the bride. Her headpiece was also held by a Dior bow
Larry Thompson, Thorp, was best man for his brother.
The bride's mother witnessed her daughter's wedding wearing a delphinium blue knit dress with navy and white accessories. The groom's mother was wearing a navy blue knit dress with navy accessories. Both mothers had a corsage of yellow cymbidium orchids.
Mrs. Kathryn Leja, Mrs. Bruno Lis, Mrs. Henry Thompson, grandmothers of the honored couple, also had corsages of white cymbidium orchids to complement their attire.
A reception was held following the ceremony at the Colburn Town Hall, Huron, Wisconsin, where a buffet style supper was served to approximately 200 guests.
Miss Lynette Lis, sister of the bride, was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Robert Cox, aunt of the bride, baked the beautiful 4-tier wedding cake.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Thompson will be 1971 graduates of Gilman High School and will be at home to their friends, after June 1st at route 1, Thorp.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the wedding were from: Bloomer, Rhinelander, Stanley, Gilman, Stratford, Jackson, Black River Falls, Boyd, Minneapolis, and Fort Collins, Colorado.
