Murphy, Lucille (2 January 1904 – 20 March 1975)

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Murphy of Neillsville, a longtime resident of the Town of Weston who died March 20 at the age of 71. The Rev. Eugene S. Antrim of Greenwood officiated, and burial followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Murphy, the daughter of Oscar and Christine (Dahlke) Macknick, was born January 2, 1904, at Fairchild and came to the Greenwood area as a young girl. She was educated in schools there.

Her marriage to Frank Murphy took place November 2, 1920, at Greenwood. The couple farmed in the Town of Weston for 40 years and then lived in Christie for five years following their retirement. They moved to Neillsville seven years ago.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Christie United Methodist Women and was a charter member of the Weston Homemakers club. She succumbed following a brief illness.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include six children: Mrs. Arnold (Gertrude) Johnson of Greenwood, Arthur Murphy of Neillsville, Harold Murphy of Black River Falls, Mrs. John (Frances) Ormond, Jr., of Neillsville and Bernard Murphy and Mrs. James (Marjorie) Kurasz of Greenwood; one brother, Ralph Macknick, of Belleville; and 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
