Following the 1:00 p.m. Lublin Days Parade on Sunday, le July 29th, the Thorp VFW and other veteran groups will honor Vietnam Veteran Gary Bandor at his grave site in St. se Mary's Polish National Cemetery just west of Lublin. Presentation of a plaque will be given to family members 1' during a short ceremony at which Tom Misfeldt, classmate and friend, will speak. Gary was the son of Jess and Ann Bandor, and brother, to Larry (Mary) Bandor and Karen (Jim) Buss.

Bandor was one of the great athletes in Thorp history. He was selected All-Northwest quarterback in both 1962 and 1963, and also made the All-Northwest basketball team in 1963-64.

He graduated from Thorp High School in 1964 and entered the University of Wisconsin. He played on the freshman football team that fall and was elevated to the varsity as a sophomore the following year. Bandor was a letter winner as a defensive back and offensive flanker.

He entered service in the spring of 1966 and had already served a year in Vietnam when the accident at Fort Sill, OK occurred of which he died from his injuries on March 23, 1968.
