Krueger, Roger William (16 MAY 1944 - 13 JUN 2018)

Roger William Krueger, age 74, of the Town of Poy Sippi, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, June 13, 2018, at Juliette Manor in Berlin, following a battle with cancer.

Roger was born May 16, 1944, in Berlin, a son of Carl and Anita (Buchholtz) Krueger. He married Nora A. Strehlow on March 1, 1964, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville. Nora, his wife of 54 years, survives.

Roger lived his entire life on the family farm in the Town of Poy Sippi. He was a 1962 graduate of Berlin High School. He had a wonderful, dry sense of humor. He loved to tell stories, and became quite animated when telling some of them. His life and work were tied to the land, which was homesteaded in 1884. The fifth generation of Kruegers is now living on this land.

Roger was a hard worker. He not only operated a dairy farm, but also was a milk hauler, logger and sawyer. (His woods were his passion.) He collected tractors and chiming clocks since his youth. He was a life-long, faithful, active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville. He served as church trustee and financial secretary of Immanuel Lutheran Church. His great-grandfather was one of the founding members of the church. Roger was a life-member of Symco U.T.C. (Union Thrashermen’s Club), and a member of the North Central Wisconsin Steam Show of Edgar.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nora; two sons, Roger C. “Butch” (Barbara) Krueger of New London and Scott (Brenda) Krueger of Poy Sippi; a daughter, Karla (Raymond) Powell of Greenleaf; six grandchildren, Paul (Tanya) Hintzke, Katie (Chris) Smith, Samuel (Keena) Krueger, Jessica Powell, Elizabeth Krueger and Isaiah Krueger; two great-grandchildren, Mila and Gage Hintzke; and a brother, Raymond (Joyce) Krueger of Redgranite. Roger is also survived by his in-laws, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anita Krueger.

A funeral service for Roger W. Krueger will be held Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, N2506 State Hwy. 49, in Auroraville (rural Berlin). The Rev. Bryan M. Beardsley, Pastor, and the Rev. William E. Meier will preside. Following these services, Roger will be laid to rest on the family plot in the Poy Sippi Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday, June 22, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite, and then on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roger’s memory.

Ruminski Funeral Home is serving the family.
