Karye, Frank (25 DEC 1901 – 11 JUL 1971)
Frank Karye, a resident of the Town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past
37 years, was fatally stricken with a heart attack while trimming a branch from
a tree on the lawn of his home at 5:15 Sunday evening.
Funeral services were conducted from Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen at 1:30
o'clock Tuesday, July 13, 1971. Rev. Puetinen of Ironwood, Michigan was in
charge of the service, with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kauno Niemi, Walfred Havelin, Roy Quelle, Milton Seaman, Hugo
Salo, and Neil Kytola.
The deceased was 69 years, 6 months, and 16 days of age, being born December 25,
1901 at Negaunee, Michigan. He is survived by hiw sife, the former Alice
Gummerson, who he married May 16, 1937 in a ceremony performed at Bethany
Lutheran Church, Owen. The couple farmed for 34 years in the Town of Reseburg,
until four years ago when they served as caretakers at a northern Wisconsin
resort.
He had been active in affairs of his community, having served on the Oakland
School Board for several years, and was active in the conduct of Bethany
Lutheran Church.
Survivors, other than his widow, are a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Cramer,
Wausau; two brothers, Sanford Karye, Waukegan, Ill., and Charles Karye of
Marengo; three sisters, Mrs. (Alma) Nelmark, Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. George
(Esther) Alajoki, Melrose Park, Ill., and Mrs. Vince (Elsie) Yanke, Owen, and
two grandsons.
