Humm, Billie June (Lafikes) (11 OCT 1934 - 27 MAY 2018)

Billie June (Lafikes) Humm, 83, passed into the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ at noontime on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Country Gardens Assisted Living in Medford, WI.

Born October 11, 1934 in Alton, IL, she was the daughter of George and Nora (Ewing) Lafikes. On March 28, 1953, she married Jacque Humm at Main Street Methodist Church in Alton. He preceded her in death in January 2015. They lived in Edwardsville, IL, and later in Godfrey, IL, where they resided for 40 years. In 2009 they moved to Ottawa, IL, and then later to Wisconsin to be near family.

Through the years, Billie was an active member of the United Methodist Church, where she served in Missions Outreach and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the founding board of the United Methodist Village in Alton; on the Board of Directors for Illinois Southwestern Children's Home and Aid Society; and volunteered with Crisis Food Center, Meals on Wheels, and Heritage Days. She participated in the Illinois Prairieland Walk to Emmaus and was also a longtime member of the Godfrey Women's Club. She was a loving and attentive grandmother and was affectionately known as GiGi by her great-grandchildren.

Billie was preceded in death by brothers Louis “Louie” Lafikes and Stanley Howell, and by sisters Mary (Lafikes) Worrell and Louise (Lafikes) Paneschi.

She is survived by two daughters and their families: Kathleen (Glenn) Wooten of Kingston, Washington, and Kathleen's sons Aaron (Danielle) Kaufman and Adam Kaufman; and Julia (John) Jast of Ogema, Wisconsin, and their eleven children Jennifer (Reed) McBride, Joanna (Ben) Marquis, John (Kelsey) Jast, Jerilyn (Frank) Yost, Dr. Jeffrey Jast, Jackie (Maxwell) Parlin, Janette Jast, Jordanna (Kurt) Storvik, Joseph Jast, Justine Jast, and Joshua Jast. Billie was also a beloved great-grandmother to her 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two nieces Barbara Walker and Michele Heflin, nephew Bill Wilkinson, brother-in-law Robert Humm, and beloved sister-in-law JoVenna Manns.

Family will gather in June for a Celebration of Life service to honor Billie's legacy.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with arrangements.
